Preventive Vigilance
Do’s
1 Remember, each one of us as a public servant is expected to act honestly and faithfully at all times.
2 Always demonstrate a sense of fair play and impartiality in disposing of official matters.
3 Show courtesy and consideration in dealings with the public, colleagues, subordinates and superiors alike. Attend to public grievances promptly; it improves the image of the institution.

Maintain strictest secrecy regarding the Bank’s affairs.

Observe scrupulously the rules and regulations concerning your personal conduct.

Be discriminate in attending parties hosted by the Bank’s constituents, clients etc.

7 Avoid seeking and receiving cash donations and advertisements from the Bank’s clients, constituents, business associates etc., even for a good cause.

Dispose of cases promptly but without undue haste.

9 Confirm oral instructions given to subordinates in writing, lest it should put them in embarrassment. Likewise get all oral instructions/ decisions of the higher ups in writing and get them confirmed.
10 "Paper" ( i.e. get all reasons down on paper) your every decision.
11 Sign nothing without reading and understanding. After all you alone are accountable for what you sign. Remember to date your signature always.
12 Observe rules and regulations strictly and when the situation warrants a deviation on account of exigencies, record the reasons for departure and preferably get them confirmed by your higher authorities.
13 Monitor each aspect of functional area to ensure avoidance of delay and accomplishment of the job in a time-bound schedule, for it will curb corruption.
14 Do intensive monitoring of delays and disposal of files; it helps in curbing corruption.
15 Ensure job rotation lest vested interests grow. Have surprise checks, for this will keep the concerned on their toes and serve as an insurance against irregularities and pilferages.
16 Pay utmost attention and importance to internal control and keep on assessing its strength, for in its absence and weakness malpractices grow.
17 Publicize the rules and procedures, as widely as possible in simple words and make them less cumbersome.
18 Pay surprise and frequent visits to the places visited by the public and other places where stationery and stores are kept.
19 Remember always that corruption starts in a small way. It would thus be wise to put a brake at the initial stage itself.
20 Keep a quiet watch over the style of living, types of visitors etc. of the employees posted at sensitive desks; it will help detection of corruption at an early stage.
21 Ensure the integrity and devotion to duty of persons under your control and authority; for they would otherwise bring disrepute to you.
22 Submit property returns to the Competent Authority promptly and get acknowledgement for the same in your own interest; for such disclosure will save you when you are complained against by unscrupulous persons.
23 Manage your private affairs so as to avoid habitual indebtedness.
  
Don’ts
1 Do not conduct yourself in a manner unbecoming of your status.
2 Do not solicit, seek or accept any gift or valuables either from the constituents of the Bank or from any one, more than what is permissible under the rules.
3 Do not engage in any commercial proposition while being in the service of the Bank.
4 Do not make any attempt to short-circuit the prescribed procedure; for it may give rise to suspicion against you and the attendant unpleasant consequences.
5 Do not forget to report any irregularities/ deviations you come across to the higher authorities, lest you be suspected to be party to it.
6 Do not route the savings and funds of your relatives and others through your account.
7 Do not be under any obligation to anyone, particularly those with whom you have official dealings.
8 Do not indulge in any dishonest or improper act even in your private life, for it would bring discredit to your service.
9 Do not enter into any borrowing arrangement with any bank except with prior permission of the competent authority.
10 Do not make any false bills or make any attempt to falsify any record/ account; it may cost your career.
11 Do not cultivate extra friendship with Bank’s contractors, borrowers, suppliers etc.
12 Do not handle but pass on to your higher authorities files concerning matters in which you and your relatives have interest, for your decision ( if any) in such matters might not be dispassionate or objective.
13 Do not get influenced by personal prejudices while disposing of files.
14 Do not relax while you are on invigilation or supervision duties.
15 Do not show any favouritism or commit any irregularity in inviting tenders and awarding contracts.
16 Do not misuse the Bank’s car or any other Bank’s property in your care.
17 Do not fail to seek prior permission for acquisition or disposal of immovable property of any amount above the prescribed limit.
18 Do not forget to report about the acquisition of moveable properties within 7 days from the date of transaction, if the value exceeds Rs.25,000/-.
19 Do not delay disposal of complaints, for delay brings disconsolation not only to the complainant but also to the person complained against.
20 Do not speculate in any stock, share or other investment.
21 Do not place undue reliance on your subordinates and colleagues for it may be taken advantage of. Trust, but verify all the same.
